The long dry season from June to October and the short dry season from January to February are the best times to visit. The dry seasons allow tourists to participate in various activities such as sunbathing, birdwatching, and exploring nature.

The best time to visit is in the morning, from 9:00 AM until early noon or 1:00 PM. This time is perfect for morning low tides and offers the clearest water for snorkelling or a chance to visit the coral reef.

Over 250 species of fish inhabit the coral reef, along with sea turtles and marine mammals like dolphins (bottlenose, spinner and humpback). You may also spot octopuses, starfish, sea urchins, jellyfish, and sea cucumbers. Leopard moray eels, stingrays, and bluefin kingfish are frequently spotted. Various seabirds, such as Crab Plover and the Roseate Tern, are also common.

Visiting the Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve requires presenting a valid ID or passport at the gate. Entry fees vary by residency status: non-residents pay $17 USD for adults and $13 USD for children, while Kenyan citizens and East African residents pay KES 130 for adults and KES 125 for children. All your park entry fees will be included in your travel costs in advance.
