Kenya’s Giraffe Centre

The Sanctuary & Giraffe Centre

The African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Giraffe Centre, which is commonly called “The Giraffe Centre,” occupies an important position in the conservation of the highly endangered Rothschild giraffes.

Founded in 1979, the centre’s mission is to educate schoolchildren about their country’s incredible wildlife and environment, while supporting its breeding programme for the endangered Nubian Giraffe. On the feeding platform, the giraffes love to interact with visitors, reaching out with their long, inquisitive tongues in hopes of a treat. You may also observe warthogs snuffling at their hooves, scavenging on the fallen pellets.

Our Commitment

Protecting Kenya’s Animal Rescue Centres

Endangered Rothschild giraffes (which differ from other giraffe subspecies, as they have no patterning below the knee) are rescued and rehabilitated in Kenya’s Giraffe Centre. With active conservation efforts, the numbers have increased from 100 to 300. At Safarizo, we partner with local animal activists and rescue centres to raise awareness and help in wildlife conservation.
