Established in 1946, this is Kenya’s oldest national park. Its open grasslands and acacia scrub are home to black rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffalo, giraffes and hippos. Birders will enjoy it too, with more than 400 recorded species.

The park is home to black rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, hippos and many antelope species. Elephants are not found here, which is why the tour includes the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Animals are most active in the cool early morning, and the light is softer for photography. Starting early also means you beat much of Nairobi’s traffic.

This tour adds a morning game drive in Nairobi National Park before the conservation and heritage stops. The city tour skips the park and starts a little later.

Yes. It is a short, easy introduction to game viewing, with comfortable vehicles and an experienced guide. Many travellers use it to find their feet before a longer safari.

The tour runs all year. The dry months from June to October and January to February usually give the easiest game viewing, as animals gather near water and the grass is shorter.
