Frequently Asked Questions.

The Masai Mara is a year-round safari destination, but the best time is July to October during the Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross from Tanzania. For fewer crowds, lush scenery, and excellent wildlife viewing, consider visiting between January and March.

You can reach the Masai Mara by road or air. A drive from Nairobi takes approximately 5–6 hours, while domestic flights from Wilson Airport reach the reserve's airstrips in 45–60 minutes, making flying the quickest and most convenient option.

Yes. The Masai Mara is one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino. Guided game drives significantly increase your chances of spotting all five, often within just a few days.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of experiences, including game drives, hot air balloon safaris, guided bush walks, cultural visits to Maasai villages, birdwatching, photography tours, and witnessing the Great Migration during the peak season.

All visitors must pay a park conservation fee, which varies depending on residency status, travel season, and the conservancy or reserve entered. International visitors should carry a valid passport and obtain the appropriate Kenyan visa or Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before arrival, if required. It is advisable to confirm the latest park fees and entry regulations before your trip.
